Yesterday I met Bobby the incoming President of the Collie Men's Shed, an inspiring group of Aussies who embody the spirit of giving back while also addressing the critical issue of men's mental health. The Collie Men’s Shed repairs and restores stuff, builds stuff for the community, and supports local disadvantaged kids. All of this has a lasting positive impact on Collie which is transitioning from a coal town to a renewable energy hub. But the Men’s Shed goes beyond physical projects; it serves as a vital space where men can gather, share experiences, and support each other, providing purpose and meaning and helping to address men’s mental health issues.
Something that really impresses me about the Collie Men’s Shed is that they share it with the women too. Men use it three times a week and women have it for two. And the committee has both men and women!
I want to support Bobby and the Collie Men's Shed not only because they give back to their community but also because they’re a vital space for men to connect and combat mental health challenges. They’ve already made great strides in sustainability by installing solar panels, but to fully harness their renewable energy, they need a $10,000 battery. This battery will allow them to store and use their solar power and save money on energy bills, ensuring their work continues to benefit both the environment and the community. Your donation can help make this happen.
Let’s power up the Collie Men's Shed together! Please donate to my Go Fund Me campaign. Every dollar counts.
